Air Force Member Who Set Himself on Fire Outside Israeli Embassy Dies

Aaron Bushnell, 25, died in the hospital after setting himself on fire outside the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C.

Bushnell, a member of the U.S. Air Force, was taken to the hospital after Secret Service officers extinguished the flames. He died from his injuries on Tuesday, April 19, 2023.

The motive for Bushnell's self-immolation is unknown. The Secret Service is investigating the incident.

Bushnell's death is the latest in a string of self-immolations by members of the U.S. military. In 2022, two other Air Force members set themselves on fire outside the Pentagon.

The Pentagon has not released any information about the motives for these self-immolations. However, some experts believe that the stress of military service may be a factor.

Bushnell's death is a tragedy. It is a reminder of the sacrifices that our military members make every day.
